This song upsets me, not for its content but its chord progression. It’s one of many. Here is a list of songs (not a complete list) that all use the same chord progression, and I seem to be the only one who notices this (except, perhaps, the people who write these songs for these artists (if they don’t write for themselves), who probably realize this progression is 'gold' in terms of 'making hits'.
Recent Hits (2000's): Kelly Clarkson: 'Already Gone' Pink: 'Please Don't Leave me' Alicia Keys: 'No One' Leona Lewis: 'Better in Time' Avril Lavigne: 'Keep Holding On' Daughtry: 'Feels Like Tonight'
90's hits: Bush: 'Glycerine' Green Day: 'When I come Around' Weezer: 'My Name is Jonas'
80's hit: Journey: 'Don't Stop Believing'
And from the Nickelodeon camp: Miranda Cosgrove: 'Kissing You' Victoria Justice: 'Make it Shine'
The chord progression (in music theory terms) is I, V, VI, IV. Chords I, V, and IV are major, and the third chord of the progression, VI, is minor.
I'm confident this is not a coincidence. This has been bugging me for a long time. I want to do a medly of all these songs, because they are all the same songs, only the melodies sung over these chords are different. Corporate art recycling itself. Sad...

Alicia Keys is in no sense a bad thing.
I really like her first album (Songs In A Minor)--listened to it all the time. But it's been a while though--need to listen to it again!
